| History The German Pinscher was officially recognised as a breed in Germany in 1879. Developed as a vermin hunter for farms, it has contributed to the development of a number of other breeds, including the Dobermann, Miniature Pinscher and Schnauzer. |

| Positives The German Pinscher is an excellent watchdog and a good companion in households where they are firmly disciplined and properly trained. |
