History
The Basset Hound
("basset" meaning "low slung") originated in France
and was introduced to England in the 1870s. Whilst the French &
English Bassets are now two distinct sub-breeds, the English is by far
the most numerous and well known.
Positives
Basset Hounds love
to play with children and other dogs, and are a great household
companion.
Negatives
As they are so keen
to socialise, Basset Hounds don't like to be left alone.
