Colour
Basenjis come in a
range of colours, including black, black & tan, red and brindle. All
have white socks, chest markings and a white tip on the tail.
Grooming
Basenji only need
an occasional brushing with a coarse brush to remove dead hair.
History
The Basenji
originated in Africa, where it is most common today. Images of it have
been found on 3,000 year old Egyptian tombs.
Positives
The Basenji
certainly isn't a "yapper"; in fact the opposite - it doesn't
bark at all. It does have a soft "yodel" but that is it, which
is a benefit to neighbours!
Negatives
The Basenji is very
independent, can be difficult to train and is thus not ideal around
children.
